Einstein’s definition of insanity is: “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Well, that was me. So before starting some crazy new plan ‘on Monday’ I decided I’d figure this ‘diet’ thing out once and for all.
What I learned completely rocked my world.
Not only did I find that most of what I was doing to lose weight was totally wrong, I discovered that it’s possible to lose weight without counting calories, points or stepping on a scale everyday. I realized that I can enjoy food without feeling guilty or ashamed.
Can you imagine how freeing that is?
What surprised me the most is that it became about much more than just losing weight. Sure, I got back down to the weight that I was in high school but what I love more is how I feel. Today, my energy is back (I can’t remember the last time wanted to have a nap), I don’t turn into a moody mushball during that ‘time of the month’ and I have so much more confidence. I feel like myself again.
And I haven’t been on a ‘diet’ since.
It’s like a lightbulb went on. This realization spurred an intense interest in health and nutrition. I left my corporate job, went back to school and have spent hours and hours pouring over the latest nutrition research and information.
